British Girls runner-up for the second year in a row – my summer highlights

This summer, I was again on the road quite a lot. Starting in July with the European Ladies Team Championship in Sardinia, followed by the European Ladies Amateur Championship and the Final Qualifier for the AIG Women’s British Open. Unfortunately, I missed the Final Qualifier by a couple of strokes, but I was able to watch my favorite LPGA pros play at Woburn. A highlight was definitely talking to Lizette Salas, walking inside the ropes with her during her practice round and receiving one of her player guest tickets!!

In August, I competed at the British Girls and the English Women’s Amateur Championship. At the British Girls, I qualified for the match play phase after two stroke play rounds. In my first four matches I was never down and always managed to bring it home. During the semifinal match against a Norwegian girl, I lost the first hole but due to my excellent putting, I was able to sink 4-5 longer birdie putts (playing 6 birdies in that match) and won the semifinals on the 16thhole to advance into the final match. That same afternoon, I played the final of the 2019 British Girls but unfortunately lost. Even though, I was still very pleased with my performance that week and I was proud of being runner-up for the second year in a row.

From Scotland, I flew directly to England to try and defend my title at the English Women’s Stroke Play Championship. With a total score of +1 over 4 rounds I placed 8th, only 3 strokes off the winning score. I was very exhausted after those two successful weeks on the road and had to focus on some school work during the last week of my summer vacation. I can’t wait to get my senior year started!!
